Disability Network/Michigan Elects New Officers and Board Members

Disability Network/Michigan (DN/M) held its Annual Member’s meeting and Board Member elections. DN/M is governed by a 7-member Board comprised of the Executive Directors of its member organizations.

The fiscal year 2014 board and officers are:

David Emmel, Executive Director of Disability Network of Mid-Michigan, DN/M-Chair

Lesia Pikaart, Executive Director of disAbility Connections, DN/M Vice Chair

Todd Whiteman, Executive Director of Disability Network/Lakeshore. DM/M Secretary/Treasurer

Kellie Boyd- Executive Director of Disability Network/Oakland-Macomb, DN/M SILC Liaison

Rick Sides- Executive Director of Disability Network/Detroit-Wayne, DN/M Member-at-Large

Joel Cooper- President & CEO of Disability Network/Southwest Michigan, DN/M Member-at-Large

Ellen Weaver- Executive Director of Capital Area Center for Independent Living, DN/M Member-at-Large

On behalf of Disability Network/Michigan we would like to give special thanks to Angela Hoff, Executive Director of Blue Water Center for Independent Living, for serving as the 2013 Board Chair and Susan Cloutier-Myers, Executive Director of Disability Connections-West Michigan for serving as the 2013 Vice Chair.







Disability Network/Michigan (DN/M) is devoted to supporting & building sustainable Centers for Independent Living in Michigan.

Disability Network/Michigan represents the collective voice of Michigan’s 15 Centers for Independent Living (CILs).  Our focus is on leadership development, relationship building, effective communication and mobilizing around issues that will have the greatest impact on delivering high-quality independent living services to people with disabilities.

We do this through:

      Convening leadership teams & issue teams

      Providing relevant trainings to members

      Engaging with key partners and the legislature

      Employing effective communication strategies

      Promoting the network of CILs
